Mosque Tried To Alert Police

Interesting story here, is this another case of poor Police work?

A MOSQUE in South London wrote to police two years ago to express concern about a man who is now a key suspect in the failed July 21 bombings in London, a trustee of the mosque said overnight.

Stockwell Mosque asserted in its letter to a senior district police official that Hamdi Issac, 27, was among a group of people involved in "inciting racial and religious hatred in the community".
It said the group had been spreading extremist views and literature, and targeting moderate leaders of the mosque for abuse.

"We believe that this group is trying to undermine both the authority and moderate approach of the centre's management, imams and community," the letter said.

"They have an agenda to turn this centre into another Finsbury Park mosque," a Muslim centre of worship in north London formerly known as a meeting point for Islamist hardliners.

Issac, alias Osman Hussein, 27, is suspected of trying to detonate a bomb at Shepherd's Bush Underground station in west London as part of a four-pronged attempt to repeat the July 7 bombings that killed 56 people.

The Ethiopian-born Briton was arrested on July 29 in Rome where he is fighting extradition.

Toaha Qureshi, a trustee of Stockwell Mosque, said today: "We could not have been more explicit. It was put in such a manner that it should have been taken seriously."

"If they had done something, then I don't know how many lives we could have saved," he was quoted as saying by Britain's domestic Press Association news agency.

The letter was sent on July 24, 2003 to Malcolm Tillyer, deputy borough commander

EO once posted that there was evidence that 'mosques have been used to store massive amounts of weapons and firearms': link, please!

in logic: Extraordinary claims demand an extraordinary proof - or perhaps we're not dealing with logic in this case.

as for muslim condemnations of terrorism:

I've already posted that evidence, dawud. I posted it for you, so you've seen it. Must I post it again? Gaza, as I recall, with official Hamas photos.

Let me ask it this way: Do you deny that mosques are used to store weapons and as safe houses/fortresses for Islamist fighters?

you're talking about Gaza, punk? you might have mentioned the USA when you first referenced that 'mosques with guns and bombs', but facts aren't really relevant to you when you have a good stream-of-consciousness argument (and we're stretching the meaning of consciousness on your behalf).

there are militant groups in Gaza, such as Hamas - and you might want to look into what a certain Minister of the Interior (Israel, early 80s) named Sharon was doing when he had those mosques built. It's an interesting story, that Sharon built the mosques that Gaza stores weapons in, precisely because the policy then was to try to split the religious groups off from the secular leftists.

It's been a success, wouldn't you say? Sharon's a generous guy...

You still have to demonstrate what you're saying, outside of a warzone, Pablo... where are weapons and bombs being stored in massive amounts in mosques?

still waiting for you to be coherent.

look, you racist piece of trash-talking sh** - I've met Dave Chapelle, he doesn't talk like you and you claim to have daughters?!? Dave didn't use the word 'raghead' or other racist slanders in the time I (and several others) spoke with him, and that was over a period of two weeks. You can't manage half-a-day without posting some moronic garbage here.

As for 'shifting goalposts', you're the one who thinks I want to harm Ayaan or Irshad - I've met the latter, and she seems to be doing fine. You're also under the delusion that you were ever speaking about Gaza, when you clearly wanted us to think you knew about some mosques in the USA (which is why I asked you to inform the BATF/FBI), you do know of that organization don't you?

as well, it may surprise you that I don't really care for Omar Bakri - he and his 'agent provocateur' ilk should be welcomed back to Lebanon, Syria, and Egypt (or wherever else they feel welcome) by security agents, to whom they can explain their vision for 'Caliphate'... of course, I feel the same way about you & Charles explaining your views on 'militant Islam' to CAIR & some of the muslim men & women you've slandered...
