There's true desperation at LGF, where the lizards are in full denial mode about the killing of over 100 Palestinian civilians in Israel's attack on Gaza. It's not true, they rant, in the face of all available evidence.

Wait! All evidence? No! CJ&Co have dug up two pictures that might or might not be staged. It's hard to tell. But surely this is evidence that all those reports of civilian casualties are anti-Israel lies, no?

Meanwhile, don't expect Charles to run a "work accident" headline about the three IDF soldiers who were killed by a round from one of their own tanks. He reserves that kind of Shadenfreunde for the subhumans Palestinians.

No pity in LA this Christmas

The attack on Gaza is a bit like a Rorschach test. People's reaction tells you a lot about what kind of person they are.

Take Charles Johnson of littlegreenfootballs.com :

More than 300 people have died since Friday, the vast majority of them Palestinians. Some were armed militants, some were police and other municipal workers, some were civilians.

What's striking is that Charles Johnson's reaction to this is: they probably deserved it. All of them. Indiscriminately.

He doesn't say: well, maybe the Israeli response to the rocket attack was a little over-the-top

He doesn't say: surely a highly-trained and ethical army such as the IDF can do better than mirror the Palestinian militants by firing into densely packed areas full of civilians.

No, he says, quote: "At some point, though, don’t we need to ask, 'How innocent are those ordinary Gazan civilians, anyway?'"

You see, that's a rhetorical question. For obviously, in Charles Johnson's mind the answer is clear: the civilians aren't innocent. By virtue of the fact that they live in Gaza, where the majority voted for Hamas, they are guilty, and therefore we shouldn't shed a tear if they are killed. Man. Woman. Child. All of them.

That's the kind of person Charles Johnson is.

Killing kids

The story of the Afghan civilians killed by US troops in March got short shrift when it first appeared on LGF. Basically, the lizard crew denounced anyone who reported the story as a traitor and a liar.

Now a senior US commander in Afghanistan has admitted deep shame for the murder of 19 innocents, but don't expect any expression of similar sentiment on LGF. Acknowledging guilt just isn't the LGF-way.

On a related note, Charles Johnson blasts an Australian rookie preacher for comments he made about the killing of children. Tellingly, though, he consciously fails to mention an incident yesterday in which US troops in Iraq apparently did just that: kill children.

The figures that speak for themselves

But if you wanted to know these figures you'd be hard pressed to find them on LGF. You're more likely to find mocking posts about Muslim swimming costumes.
