OMG CREEPING SHARIA THREAT WATCH ALERT!!1!

An organization that was recently formed for the purpose of perpetuating second-class citizenship for gay Americans has a Board of Advisors that includes a lady called Amatullah Sharif, whose affiliation is listed as "The Mosque Cares - Ministry of Imam W. Deen Mohammed."

According to what I presume to be an impeccable wingnut news source (and one that has been favorably cited at LGF on at least one occasion):

"The Mosque Cares" is an organization founded by Warith Deen Mohammed, a former leader of the Nation of Islam. "The Mosque Cares" often works together with other Islamist groups in the United States such as the Muslim Alliance in North America [MANA] and the Islamic Society of North America [ISNA, also an unindicted co-conspirator in the HLF prosecution].

MANA recently gave W.D. Mohammed "its first 'Lifetime Achievement Award.' The fact is that historically, he led the largest "mass conversion" of Muslims in the United States, when he sheparded his followers from the Nation of Islam doctrine to following the Quran and Sunnah specifically." The amir of MANA, is Siraj Wahhaj [see, http://www.mana-net.org/pages.php?ID=&NUM=164], a party named by U.S. prosecutor Mary Jo White as an unindicted co conspirator in the 1993 WTC bombings.

This would be a perfect opportunity for Charles Johnson to demonstrate, once and for all, which side he's on in the battle over same-sex marriage. The presence of Ms. Sharif -- not to mention dozens of other religious extremists, most of whom are, presumably, believers in creationism and other icky things -- on the Board of Advisors of a vehemently anti-gay organization gives him a perfect excuse to "come out" in favor of equal rights for all. Of course he'd rather commit seppuku with a rusty butter knife than give us a "hat tip," but if anyone is so inclined, please feel free to bring this to his attention by other means.

If history is any indication, though, Charles will simply ignore the issue and hope it goes away. He's already lost the creationists; can he afford to lose the homophobes too?

CJ: No racism here, move along now

Charles Johnson is a great example of the power of belief. Whatever the eyes see, whatever the ears hears, Charles Johnson is still capable of twisting things to suit his agenda.

So when a TV crew goes out to see what Americans do when they witness discriminiation, Charles Johnson turns the episode into a 'CAIR controls the media' fable. It's a lesson in delusion.

First off, he says that "ABC News does their best to set up the 'dumb American bigots' at a roadside Texas bakery". Not so. ABC set out to see how Americans react to bigotry. And, if CJ had bothered to watch the clip, he would have seen that many of the customers react the right way: they are angry at the bigot and tell him so. Thumbs up to America, thumbs down to Charles Johnson.

Next CJ states that the scenario _ a classic 'hidden camera' situation _ has "one actor wearing misogynistic radical Muslim garb and provoking the yokels as another actor pretends to be a Muslim-hater". It's difficult to know where to start with this, because naturally any form of Islamic dress is provocating to CJ (aka the ueber-yokel). If you watch the clip though, she's not actually shown talking to anyone but the sales clerk. So arguing with a sales clerk while wearing some cloth over your head is considered objectively provocative? Give us a break. It's not like she's wearing a burqa with 'Convert to Islam or I'll eat your babies' on it.

Finally, Charles say that its "all designed and staged to show how 'Islamophobic' Americans." No it's not, you chump. It's designed to show how different people react to bigotry. And your reaction, Charles, says it all.

UPDATE: Several readers have written to us to say that there are two further - more sinister - issues to this story. The first is CJ's claim that the hijab is a symbol of *radical* Islam. The implication being that if you cover your head with a cloth, you're in favor of all kinds of *radical* Islamic ideas. By this logic most people in the Islamic world are *radical*. The second, unspoken but increasingly obvious, issue Charles is trying to allude to is the Obama photo. Remember the one showing him wearing a turban of sorts on a visit to Kenya. Although CJ hasn't come out and said it, there are plenty of people in his little lizardsphere who have been spewing nonsense about Obama being a crypto-Muslim. Why, with the picture and CJ's 101 of Islam, we know he's a *radical* crypto-Muslim. Nice work, Karl.

Charles Johnson: "Watch your back"

I suspect I’m not the only one who’s massively turned off by the political triangulating going on around the murder of Benazir Bhutto.

Those were the words of Charles Johnson on Dec. 27.

By Dec. 28 Charles Johnson had found his form again, and was busily linking to his favorite politpundits in a desparate attempt to hammer some sort of message out of the assassination of Benazir Bhutto before the blood dries and the news junkie caravan moves on.

Who did CJ endorse? A certain 'Scott Ott' (nasty parents), whose ignorant ramblings Chuckles describes as "serious".

What is the essence of Ott's piece? That European politicians should view the murder of Bhutto as a warning of what they will soon face - unless they muster the courage to confront the Islamic peril.

Ott is wrong on so many fronts, it's hard to know where to start. The obvious first question to Ott would be: have you ever been to Europe or Pakistan, or are you - like Johnson - a keyboard warrior whose entire knowledge of the world out there comes from Youtube and the cable channels you so despise? Then: what exactly makes you think the two places are in any way comparable? And finally: when it comes to attributing responsibility for what happened in Pakistan, shouldn't you look a little bit closer to home and perhaps mention the fact that it was the US government which originally armed the Taliban (now roving freely in Pakistan's lawless northwest)? And don't you think it might be worth scrutinizing the ongoing US support for Pakistan's shady secret service, all well-documented and at times even acknowledged by US officials?

What Ott, Johnson and others like them manifestly fail to understand is that their "bomb 'em all" approach to solving the world's problems is precisely what is causing many of the conflicts and uprisings in the first place. Iraq, Israel, Colombia, Afghanistan, Somalia and Lebanon...don't you guys ever learn a thing? Don't you realize that your ignorance coupled with your trigger-happy foreign policy is laying the foundations for the wars of the future?

Instead of warning people you have never met that they should watch their backs because the crosshairs of fanatics are trained on them (and wouldn't you just squeel with glee if a European politician did actually get killed?) it might be more appropriate if you spent your time doing some proper research about the coutries and people you like to preach about so much.

Step out of the chickenhawk role for once and visit Rawalpindi, or Ramallah, or Ankara, or Berlin, or Lyon, or Dar es Salaam, or Cairo, or Jakarta.

Muster some courage and a few brain cells to challenge a few of the preconceived ideas you have about half the world population.

Give us an informed, nuanced (drat, the evil n-word!), USEFUL opinion for once, instead of the usual mind-numbing drivel that passes for political analysis on your side of the blogosphere.

That's your challenge for 2008.

Dishonor among Lizards

The raison d'etre of Littlegreenfootballs is to pin all that is wrong with the world exclusively on one single entity - Islam - regardless of the truth.

In today's post about 'honor killings' Chuckles complains that a Sunday Telegraph article "never once mentions the 'M' word [Muslims]".

Of course CJ fails to tell his readers that the most prominent victim of 'honor violence' mentioned in the article (Jasvinder Sanghera) is in fact a ... Sikh.

You see, there's a reason the article says the problem is particularly prevalent among Britain's ASIAN community.

But maybe Charles just doesn't know one turban from another?

You all know the story of Pavlov's dogs, right? The Russian scientist Ivan Pavlov conditioned his laboratory dogs to develop a reflex whereby they started salivating in anticipation of food even when there was none forthcoming.

In a sense Charles has managed to train his lizard minions to do the same: in the full knowledge that Charles only posts about tragic incidents if they involve Muslims as the evil-doers, the response of the LGF comment crew was as fast as it was predictable when CJ wrote about the Virginia Tech shooting yesterday.

They just had cell phone footage on a VA local station that had a Muslim name on it, his cell phone I guess, where you can hear the shots firing off. The guy was outside the building. Anyway, strange it was from a Muslim and he had his name posted with the video.

Here's what we know about the murderer of at least 32 students and maimer of at least 28 more at Virginia Tech, today:

* The murderer has been identified by law enforcement and media reports as "a young Asian male."

* The Virginia Tech campus has a very large Muslim community, many of which are from Pakistan (per terrorism investigator Bill Warner).

* Pakis are considered "Asian."

* There were 2 attacks at least half a mile apart.

* There have been at least two bomb threats to this campus in the last two weeks.

Is anyone really surprised Debbie Schlussel is the first to connect the VT shootings to Muslims without ANY evidence? Will anyone be surprised when her fellow bigoted travellers pick up on this and announce it as another front in the global jihad? But just in case it turns out not to be a Muslim there's always the get out clause, demonstrated in the same post by Debbie.

Even if it does not turn out that the shooter is Muslim, this is a demonstration to Muslim jihadists all over that it is extremely easy to shoot and kill multiple American college students.

These people are unbelievable.

The Chicago Tribune reports that Virginia Tech University massacre perpetrator, Cho Seung-Hui,

died with the words "Ismail Ax" in red ink on one of his arms. Hmmm . . .

Ismail--the Arabic name for Ishmael--considered the father of all Arabs and a very important figure in Islam.

I'm sure it's just a coincidence, right? Doesn't mean anything. Right.

Maybe "Ismail Ax" is the name of a friend of his. Or maybe he wanted to remind himself to buy an Ax for his friend Ismail for next Ramadan. Or I'm sure we'll hear some other similarly absurd "explanation." We'll see.

She's deranged even by LGF standards. PS according to web rumours, which to be fair are as about as reliable as the whole Debbie Schlussel report, 'Ismael Ax' was Cho Seung-Hui's X-Box Live login.

Perhaps there's a link to video game violence, perhaps not.

But we know the only link that will satisfy small minded bigots like Debbie is one to a 'global jihad'. No matter how tenuous or ridiculous.

We've come across a rather silly new blog that some of you might enjoy. The Rotten Falafel bills itself as "the Onion of Arab-Israeli online social, political satire." Well, not quite. The quality of the humor is a bit spotty, and they could use a spell-checker, but any site that pokes fun at Islamic misogyny, American right-wingers, and Israeli politicians, in approximately that order, is A-OK with us.

We can only presume the fact the violence at the convent was carried out by people of the right religion (i.e. not Muslim) merited this difference in approach.

Desperation

It must've been a slow news day on the Muslim hatin' front for poor old Charlie. If the best story he can come up with is this as a demonstration of Islamic extremism.

Blind woman Gry Berg, accompanied by her guide dog, was denied entry into four taxis in the center of the city of Oslo, Norway, this March. Three of the drivers claimed that their unwillingness to accept her dog was due to allergy, while the fourth one simply locked the car doors and refused to give an explanation for why he wouldn’t let Ms. Berg into his cab.

Andreas Strand, leader of the youth organization of The Norwegian Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted, reacts strongly to this treatment. “It makes it difficult for blind people to live a social life,” he says. Strand claims that it has become an increasingly common problem that blind people accompanied by guide dogs are denied access to taxis, and has written a letter of complaint to the three companies whose drivers were involved in this particular incident.

Now, the police and the local transportation authorities will cooperate on punishing drivers who refuse to accept dogs into their cars. Director Odd Bratteberg of the Transportation Authority in Oslo warns that they will conduct random tests at taxi stands, and that drivers who refuse to accept passengers with dogs risk having their license revoked.

Am I the only person missing the Muslim angle? Or the religious objection to seeing eye dogs? Maybe the cab drivers were just assholes?

Maybe he should stop taking nods from Fjordman. We all know what kind of crank he is.

Charlie and the UN

Charles Johnson's hatred of the UN tends to blind him of some basics facts about the organization, as we saw again this week when the West Coast hateblogger took a shot at the Human Rights Council (http://littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/?entry=24959). In his post 'UN Human Rights Council Kowtows to Islam' CJ fails to mention that it was European countries which opposed the 'defamation of religion' resolution while the US didn't raise any objections to the OIC's proposal.

As for his discovery this week that Human Rights Watch said last September the rights council shouldn't be so obsessed with Israel (http://littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/?entry=24962), he fails to mention that the same argument has been made by two UN secretary generals and pretty much every European country in the council. Of course mentioning that might give the lizards the impression Europe and the UN (as an institution, rather than its various forums) might be sane after all. Can't have that!!!

Two law-related news items from 'Eurabia' you won't read about on LGF because they don't fit the approved pattern of portraying an entire continent and its politicians as capitulating to an imaginary horde of Muslim extremists.
