One is a former football star who enlisted in the army after 9/11 to defend his country from terrorists and help catch the man responsible for the attacks. He died in a friendly fire accident which was hushed up for months by the U.S. military.
The other is a middle-aged ex-musician who enlisted with the Republican spin-machine to sell the war in Afghanistan, and then Iraq, and soon Iran, to the American people as a just cause and one worth sacrificing their children for. He has never been a soldier in his life and now spends his time on the celebrity blogging circuit.
Can you tell who is who?
And while we're on the subject of the war in Iraq (remember, the one of which George W Bush said four years ago 'Mission Accomplished'), here's a powerful video:

Charles Johnson gets spam, whines
"This is the crazy wing of the modern left at work, trying to damage LGF by flooding my email inbox with junk, smearing my name, and simply creating as much mean-spirited trouble as possible"
...moans Charles Johnson after getting more than his fair share of capitalism-inspired junk messages in his inbox.
The "crazy wing of the modern left at work", eh? Funny, we've been getting these messages since day zero, and been signed up to every crackpot 'conservative' newsletter in the realm, but we just hit the 'delete spam' button. Courtesy of that crazy wing of the modern left called Google Mail, which helps us keep our secret guerilla hideout spam-free...
P.S.: So CJ finds time to write about his new poll function, the spam he's getting, but not the Israeli government inquiry into the Lebanon war? Come on, this is getting too easy!
P.P.S.: Ah, Charles reads LGFWatch and learns! We now have a 5-line explanation for what went wrong for Israel in Lebanon last year. Excellent Charles, you're learning. Now see if you can work in mention of the 1,000+ Lebanese civilians killed by the IDF.

Charles Johnson's twisted mind
Either Charles Johnson can't read, or he's lying.
Under the headline "Kos Kidz Call LGF 'Salubrious and Uplifting'" Johnson whines about something someone at Daily Kos wrote about his site. What that person actually said was
"Now humorous, now sad, a trip to LGF is a journey into the heart of darkness; for me, it is salubrious and uplifting to remind myself just how low a discourse can sink, and how far from that nadir we remain, even at our lowest moments."And this is the man who praises those who call the media 'deceptive'.

Hating America
The saurian horde seems not to have gotten the memo: An attack on any of us is an attack on all of us.
The "any of us" in this case is the population of Vermont, where a municipally-owned TV cable operator has apparently decided to add al-Jazeera to its cable lineup. This factlet was enthusiastically reported by Charles. An orgy of Vermont-bashing follows, e.g.:
What do you expect from the state that elected Howard Dean? ... vermont is pathetic [...] and al jazeera will fit right in! ... Vermont is #1, nanny-state, ignore-reality, left-wing moonbat land. IMHO ... STOP VERMONTIFICATION NOW! ... Buh-bye, Vermont ... Vermonters are precisely where they [al-Jazeera] want to start b/c they're so receptive. Hard and soft converts will be made there, especially among women ... Did they legalize drugs in Vermont when I wasn't looking? ... You could not pay me enough to live, work or even visit al-Burlington ...
And now for some facts about Vermont you'll never read at LGF:
Vermont has lost a higher proportion of its population in the Iraq war than any other state.
Vermont has the most lenient gun laws in the U.S.
Why do lizards hate America?

ROP strikes in Oakland
The denizens of Hysteria Lane (a.k.a the loonier precincts of the right-wing blogosphere) are going to have a field day with this...
A speeding tanker carrying thousands of gallons of gasoline crashed and exploded early this morning, causing 250 yards of freeway in the MacArthur Maze to melt and collapse in what one engineer called "the perfect fire".
The driver was speeding along the ramp connecting westbound Interstates 580 and 80 near Emeryville when the truck crashed at 3:42 a.m., according to CHP officials. The truck exploded in a fireball that melted the eastbound connector ramp.
James Mosqueda, 51, of Woodland, was identified as the drive, according to the CHP. Mosqueda had been driving about 10 months, for Sabek Transport out of San Francisco.
[Schlussel mode ON]
Sabek also just happens to be the name of a company that publishes English-French-ARABIC dictionaries. And the driver's name - Mosqueda - SPEAKS FOR ITSELF!! WHEN WILL AMERICA WAKE UP TO THE MUSLIM MENACE THAT IS DESTROYING OUR FREEWAYS AND TERRORIZING OUR COLLEGES, AND DON'T TRY TELLING ME "CHO" WAS NOT A MUSLIM BECAUSE HE CAN'T NOT BE!!!1!!

Giving up on Iraq
Legendary Iraqi blogger Riverbend has finally decided that it's time to leave the country.
Let this serve as an epitaph for the insane dreams of the neocons:
I always hear the Iraqi pro-war crowd interviewed on television from foreign capitals (they can only appear on television from the safety of foreign capitals because I defy anyone to be publicly pro-war in Iraq). They refuse to believe that their religiously inclined, sectarian political parties fueled this whole Sunni/Shia conflict. They refuse to acknowledge that this situation is a direct result of the war and occupation. They go on and on about Iraq's history and how Sunnis and Shia were always in conflict and I hate that. I hate that a handful of expats who haven't been to the country in decades pretend to know more about it than people actually living there.
I remember Baghdad before the war- one could live anywhere. We didn't know what our neighbors were- we didn't care. No one asked about religion or sect. No one bothered with what was considered a trivial topic: are you Sunni or Shia? You only asked something like that if you were uncouth and backward. Our lives revolve around it now. Our existence depends on hiding it or highlighting it- depending on the group of masked men who stop you or raid your home in the middle of the night.
Oh, but the U.S. captured an Iraqi Al-Qaeda bigwig today, so it was all worth it.
P.S.: The al-Qaida big-wig was captured last year.
P.P.S.: Charles mentions Egyptian blogger 'Sandmonkey' quitting, but not Riverbend leaving Iraq. Any idea why?
P.P.P.S: That was a rhetorical question.

Ségo et Sarko
To the surprise of absolutely no one, center-right French Presidential candidate Nicolas Sarkozy has won a plurality of votes in today's first-round voting. As of this writing, the numbers look like this: Sarkozy 29%, Royal 26%, Bayrou 19%, Le Pen 11%.
Of course, such political observers as Senior European Political Affairs Analyst Charles Johnson will interpret these results in the context of the Grand Post-9/11 Historical Narrative, in which the Evil Multicultural Transnational Left Is Being Smashed Worldwide and Conservative Capitalism Is Assuming Its Rightful Place As The Only Hope For Mankind.
(Well, except for that slight unpleasantness in the U.S. in November 2006.)
Further, they will declare that Sarkozy has "won" the French election, even though there is another round of voting in two weeks' time. And finally, they will spend the next two weeks engaged in frantic harangues concerning the Collapse Of Civilization As We Know It if Ségolène Royal should happen to win the second round. As if the French should care what foreign racaille think!

Bang bang
Charles has now latched on to the gun issue as a new way of galvanizing his base -- never mind that this involves throwing his support behind some rather dubious characters. Support for "gun rights" (how can a gun have rights?) is an essential component of the wingnut software package, v.9.1.1, without which he and so many other conservabots would cease to function.
So, lizards, here's a question for you:
You think all university students and staff should be encouraged, if not required, to carry loaded concealed weapons on campus.
Should this right apply to students and staff who happen to be Muslim?

Tariq Nelson picks on Charles Johnson
Well said Tariq.Last week, Blogger Umar Lee posted a picture that ultimately proved to be a brilliant demonstration that “Islamophobes” (I really don’t like that term and prefer anti-Muslim bigot) are indeed the ideological inheritors of the racists that used to lynch blacks in the early twentieth century.
Umar posted a picture of a lynching with a gathering of racists around and wrote in the caption: “1950 Little Green Footballs Gathering”. This simple picture and a few words from Umar drew the ire of Charles Johnson, the moderator of Little Green Footballs - and anti-Muslim bigot and racist – as well as other anti-Muslim bloggers. These anti-Muslim bloggers posted links to the picture for their legions of readers to comment at Umar’s site. And did they ever!
[...]
After reading the sick and racist comments from the Little Green Footballers on Umar’s blog, I wanted to share this with everyone to let everyone know that it is important NOW more than ever to support Muslim institutions such as the Muslim Link and our masjids to make them stronger. We must educate and befriend our non-Muslim neighbors before these bigots mis-educate them. We must define ourselves before they define us as people like “Gus” (The slave character in The Birth of a Nation).
I don’t say this so that we can go wallow in victim-hood or to get involved in wacky conspiracy theories – many of the anti-Jewish conspiracy theories are put out by the far right racists and we should reject this. This is also not to say that Muslims do not do stupid things. But it is not fair to portray all of us as irrational medievalists. We should also know that there are Nathan Bedford Forrestts (founder of the KKK) out there and they are looking to turn hearts and minds against us.
As I write this, my children are sound asleep. They along with your children have done nothing to deserve to be treated like beasts. Let’s resolve to leave a strong and peaceful legacy for them.

Do we even need to point out how utterly bizarre this post by Charles is?
Do we even need to post the countless comments by his swivel-eyed loons espousing all manner of weird and wonderful conspiracy theories?
Nah, didn't think so. Even his idiotic 'lizards' could see the madness and hypocrisy in that post.

What LGF missed this week
Hundreds of thousands in Turkey and Pakistan protested against Islamic extremism.
Outrage over desecration of Muslim WWII graves in Paris.
U.S. top brass urges action on climate change.
All of these stories go against the grain at LGF, and therefore Charles Johnson consciously withholds discussion of them from his readers...

The devil made him do it
Who needs Debbie Schlussel, Pammy Gellar, Charles Johnson and Michelle Malkin when you've got Fox News?
Did the Devil Make Him Do It?
Whilst the 'wingnut-o-sphere' happily spin ludicrous theories about Muslims, neo-Nazis and the like, Fox News picks up the ball and runs with it. Puts the blame firmly on Satan.

Dennis The Peasant picks on Charles.
And wins. Obviously.
....more importantly he asks this question.
At what point will my fellow Republicans and Conservatives begin the process of recognizing that there are sane approaches to combating the threat of Islamofascism and Radical Islamic Terrorsts and that acting like a bunch of unstable, paranoid morons is not one of those sane approaches? Nobody on the Right Side of the Political Blogosphere seems to have grasped this yet, but it ain't 2003 anymore: Moderate Republicans and Swing Voters seem to have come to the conclusion that railing against the "Religion of Peace" and pushing perpetual warfare in the Middle East might not be working out... So at some point people like Charles Johnson, Debbuh Schlussel and Pammuh Geller-Oshry need to be shown the door. Unless you're comfortable with eight years of a Democratic President and a Democratic Congress, that is.Actually Dennis, it would be best to start now. Whether it improves the Republican chances in the election is secondary to the overwhelming concern that hate mongers like Chuck, Pammy and Debs are actually being considered the 'voice of the right'.
Hint: I'm guessing it'd probably be best to start some time before November, 2008.

Sadly, No! pick on Charles.
And win. Obviously.
Apparently, Chazmo Johnson has become bothered of late that Little Green Footballs is widely known as a racist hate site inhabited by the scummiest peabrains on the Internet outside of Stormfront.Sane enough to realise hate sells though but apart from that Gavin M. gets it.
[...]
In Chazmo’s position, a sane person might stop scouring the world press every day for anything that any Muslim or ‘leftist’ might have allegedly said or done which might help encourage scummy peabrains in an enthusiasm for exterminating Muslims and ‘leftists.’ For instance, he could recapture LGF’s former glory as California’s premier weblog for ponytailed, Hawaiian-shirt-wearing jazz guitarists who ride bikes a lot and do web design.
And in fact, he’s cleaned up LGF quite a bit in the past couple of years, since the Pajamas Media scheme started ramping up, banning some of the more whoopingly homicidal commenters (a popular individual called Rayra comes to mind) and installing a comment filter to eliminate instances of overspecificity, such as the terms ’sand nigger’ and ‘nuke Mecca.’
But then, a sane person is not Charles Johnson

It gets better...
After spinning a ridiculous theory yesterday about an Islamist connection to the Virginia Tech shooting because the killer used the word "Ishmael" [which Charles falsely claims reads "Ismail"] on a letter, CJ is now getting into numerology.
This time, though, there's a neo-Nazi link, because the killer used the numbers 88 repeatedly. Wow. Perhaps someone should explain that the number '8' has a particular significance in Chinese culture, one which some Koreans in the the US have adopted.
What next? The mark of the beast? An agent from Eurabia? A Chavez drone? Cthulluh?

Blog Posting from Rosie: “Don’t fear the terrorists. They’re mothers and fathers.”
She stands by that statement. In the meantime, Bush gets cut no slack for being the father of twin girls. According to Rosie, you all still need to fear him more than any genocidal Muslim with a nuke. Evidently, parenthood doesn't let you off the hook if you're Republican, only if you're Muslim.
In the meantime, just how many babies have come crawling out of Rosie's fat oozing crack? Zero by my last count. "Hey Rosie, you need a dick for that!"
And while I've got your attention, click on that link and just try to read that blog "posting". Most 13 year olds display better writing skills on their MySpace pages. Slavvering Saurian Swarm
You all know the story of Pavlov's dogs, right? The Russian scientist Ivan Pavlov conditioned his laboratory dogs to develop a reflex whereby they started salivating in anticipation of food even when there was none forthcoming.
In a sense Charles has managed to train his lizard minions to do the same: in the full knowledge that Charles only posts about tragic incidents if they involve Muslims as the evil-doers, the response of the LGF comment crew was as fast as it was predictable when CJ wrote about the Virginia Tech shooting yesterday.

Daily Kos deletes video shocker!
For somebody who makes a living from hate, hysteria is always on a bigger scale at LGF.
At the web’s premier “progressive” site, Daily Kos, the neo-Nazi video posted in a diary yesterday (on Holocaust Remembrance Day) by “Sabbah” has been removed, with a typically weasely note explaining that linking to the video was really OK, because it makes some good points: Portrait of a Great Taboo: The Power of the Israel Lobby in the United States. The video was not a neo-Nazi one. Full stop.
And of course, anyone who criticized their disgusting little exercise in antisemitism was only trying to distract people from the real subject.
A neo-nazi forum had uploaded the video and put its own logo on it. The person putting it up on Kos didn't realise.
This was pointed out and the video was pulled but according to Charles Johnson this means that 'anti-semites are welcome' at Kos. Of course in Charles Johnson's little world any criticism of Israel is anti-Semitic and everything on Kos is worthy of hysterical wailing.
It makes it even more sad when he complains about people stalking him doesn't it?

The Muslims did it, maybe
How long before Charles picks up on this from Debbie Schlussel
Debbie Schlussel: Who is the "Asian" Mass Murderer at Virginia Tech?Is anyone really surprised Debbie Schlussel is the first to connect the VT shootings to Muslims without ANY evidence? Will anyone be surprised when her fellow bigoted travellers pick up on this and announce it as another front in the global jihad? But just in case it turns out not to be a Muslim there's always the get out clause, demonstrated in the same post by Debbie.
By Debbie Schlussel
**** UPDATE: Shootings appear professional, says expert; VTU Alum on school's "Asian" Population; 2nd Amenment-Free Campus/VTU lobbied against students having guns on campus for personal protection ****
Here's what we know about the murderer of at least 32 students and maimer of at least 28 more at Virginia Tech, today:
* The murderer has been identified by law enforcement and media reports as "a young Asian male."
* The Virginia Tech campus has a very large Muslim community, many of which are from Pakistan (per terrorism investigator Bill Warner).
* Pakis are considered "Asian."
* There were 2 attacks at least half a mile apart.
* There have been at least two bomb threats to this campus in the last two weeks.
Even if it does not turn out that the shooter is Muslim, this is a demonstration to Muslim jihadists all over that it is extremely easy to shoot and kill multiple American college students. These people are unbelievable.
UPDATE: The person responsible for this horrific event was South Korean.
UPDATE: Even more madness from Debbie, she's a real treat ain't she?
ALMOST ALL OF THESE SUCH INCIDENTS HAVE BEEN COMMITTED BY MUSLIMS. THAT THIS MASSACRE WAS AN ABERRATION FROM THAT IS NO REASON FOR US NOT TO CONTINUE OUR VIGILANCE AGAINST THIS COMMUNITY (MUSLIMS) THAT CONTINUES TO TARGET AMERICA. BEING FROM THE NETHERLANDS, WHERE A MUSLIM MURDERED THEO VAN GOGH, AND A MUSLIM-INSPIRED OTHER PARTY MURDERED MP PIM FORTUYN, ONE WOULD THINK YOU'D UNDERSTAND THAT. BUT ONE WOULD BE SADLY MISTAKEN.I wonder what Ms Schlussel's LGF name is?
DEBBIE SCHLUSSEL
UPDATE: And still she's blaming the Muslims.....
She's deranged even by LGF standards. PS according to web rumours, which to be fair are as about as reliable as the whole Debbie Schlussel report, 'Ismael Ax' was Cho Seung-Hui's X-Box Live login. The Chicago Tribune reports that Virginia Tech University massacre perpetrator, Cho Seung-Hui,
died with the words "Ismail Ax" in red ink on one of his arms. Hmmm . . .Ismail--the Arabic name for Ishmael--considered the father of all Arabs and a very important figure in Islam.
I'm sure it's just a coincidence, right? Doesn't mean anything. Right.
Maybe "Ismail Ax" is the name of a friend of his. Or maybe he wanted to remind himself to buy an Ax for his friend Ismail for next Ramadan. Or I'm sure we'll hear some other similarly absurd "explanation." We'll see.
Perhaps there's a link to video game violence, perhaps not.
But we know the only link that will satisfy small minded bigots like Debbie is one to a 'global jihad'. No matter how tenuous or ridiculous.
UPDATE: ....and as if by magic Chazmo appears.
UPDATE: One minute she's telling us that the shooter is probably a Muslim because of the 'very large Muslim community', the next? She's chastising the Washington Post for using a photograph showing a total of four Muslim students! Even fellow wingnuts must be wishing that she just shut up. It's getting embarrassing.
UPDATE: Debbie deletes the post citing 'nazis' from Media Matters as the reason. Yeah right.

Equal-opportunity offenders
We've come across a rather silly new blog that some of you might enjoy. The Rotten Falafel bills itself as "the Onion of Arab-Israeli online social, political satire." Well, not quite. The quality of the humor is a bit spotty, and they could use a spell-checker, but any site that pokes fun at Islamic misogyny, American right-wingers, and Israeli politicians, in approximately that order, is A-OK with us.

When did intimidation and bigotry suddenly become ok?
Something tells me if a Torah scroll smeared in bacon was left ont the steps of a Synagogue, Charles would be calling it a 'hate crime'.
I guess he'd be calling for the police to investigate the incident as well, but in Charles Johnson's world and by extension Dymphna of Gates of Vienna (Who'd have thunk?) who he quotes, an incident like this is "hostile and critical speech" that doesn't deserve to be investigated.
Why?
Because it happened to Muslims.

Where hate mongering leads....
....I would imagine if a group of 'Muslim' youths did this Chuckles and his acolytes would be typing so fast the Cheetos dust from their fingers would create a small orange tornado.
Fortunately for him the victims here are an Algerian immigrant and her one year old son. Something tells me the wingnutosphere will pass on this one.
If only it had been committed some French youths in Paris, eh Charles?
An Algerian woman and her one-year-old baby were sexually assaulted in broad daylight in Glasgow in a racially aggravated attack. The 33-year-old woman was pushing her son in his pram through the Yoker area of the city when a group of young men threw stones at them and kicked the woman. One man then exposed himself, indecently assaulted the woman and attempted to perform an indecent act on the one-year-old boy.Racism, bigotry, violence, misogyny and child abuse. All committed by non-Muslims. Nothing to see here, move along.
The woman, who cannot be identified, had her headscarf torn from her head. She escaped by snatching her son from his pram and running away, leaving behind the pram, headscarf and a baby's bottle.

The comments following this post by Charles which contains links to the Faye Turney interview are a joy to behold. Anyone who doubted the assertion that the LGF comments section was a hotbed for misogyny and sexism should read this thread and learn. What a small minded bunch of woman haters. To prevent stuff like this from happening here (again).
And here's a question for you lizards who are trying your very best to have this site as well as Matthew Yglesias' blog shut down:
Why should someone who spends a large proportion of his waking hours bashing the media, the Democratic Party, and other blogs be completely exempt from criticism himself? Quis, in other words, custodiet ipsos bloody custodes?

Helping Charles find his place
The lizard-king asks (in response to a pretty non-descript piece Chicago Sun Times)...
"Right-wing.” Don’t you wish LGF was that easy to classify(?)Ok, Charles you have a point. To describe your site and the bunch of genocidalist racist morons you have as commenters as 'right-wing' is quite misleading. It insults the decent right-wingers, the ones that don't want to nuke Mecca, the ones who don't want to put Muslims in camps, the ones who don't want to start wars every five minutes, the ones who don't mock the tragic loss of life in Palestine, the ones who don't charge around the internet like a group of sycophantic brownshirts, the ones who don't use their alleged 'support' for Israel to justify anti-Arab racism, the ones who don't cheer the death of journalists and peace activists, the ones who don't make death threats, the ones who don't see 9/11 as the coming of armageddon, the ones who......you get the drift.
So rather than "right-wing" how about the more apt "bigoted genocidalist"?

Attention Firefox users
You know Charles' cutesy little game whereby he redirects links from anti-LGF sites to the homepage of the IDF?
Well, thanks to writer-inner B.S. we now have a workaround, at least for Firefox.
Just go here and download and install the RefControl add-in. Then, restart Firefox and select Tools > RefControl Options...
To link directly to LGF posts without the nuisance of copying and pasting links, click Add Site, then enter "littlegreenfootballs.com" in the Site box. We don't know whether LGF will accept "blocked" or "forged" referrals, but we do know that if you select Custom and then enter the URL of your choice -- www.reuters.com or www.cair-net.org would do nicely, but feel free to invent your own lest the exposure-shy Mr. Johnson decide to block your IP address -- then you'll go directly to LGF and Charles' closely-watched referral numbers will go haywire. You can test it using one of the links at the top of this page.
Knowing Charles, he's probably already hard at work on a way to eliminate this loophole -- if it were up to him, he'd undoubtedly choose to block "hostile" incoming traffic entirely -- but for now, you may as well take advantage of this. You'll also be helping Israeli taxpayers, for they are the ones who pay the bills for all the extra IDF website traffic that Charles' redirect has generated over the years.
[UPDATE 4/9 18:08 - Charles surrendered more quickly than a Frenchman facing a Muslim with a bottle full of gasoline. Heh.]

The comedy continues
Last week Charles and his obedient followers were driven into a shrieking frenzy over some criticism of LGF that appeared on Hit & Run, a blog published by the libertarian magazine Reason.
And now, the punchline:
The criticism appeared in a comment. And blog comments, according to a fan of Charles' who wrote a rebuttal to Mona's comment that was promptly given pride of place on LGF itself, "cannot be used to cast blame on the site owner unless the owner lets the comments stay up."
Of course, this won't stop Charles from whining about "the ongoing smear attempts at Reason Online," or about others (e.g. us) using comments that he has failed to delete as evidence that his blog, which without comments would go unread, is a haven for paranoid, violent, semi-literate Armageddon cultists with pronounced totalitarian leanings.

Send in the clowns
For someone who whines about his site being censored on a daily basis, Charles Johnson doesn't seem to mind using his delightful genocidalist commenters to restrict debate elsewhere.
Oops. I think I “accidentally” posted her links. I guess she thought no one would notice her little outburst of hatred. Hope she doesn’t have to close her comments. That would be a tragedy.Yes Charles, let's hope. Let's hope she keeps her head up and rises above the mentally abnormal crap your commenters inflict on other sites. Let's hope she doesn't have to deal with the usual false accusations of anti-Semitism. Let's hope she doesn't get the usual flood of junk and abuse through her e-mail system. Let's hope it doesn't happen. Of course we know it will. History, especially where LGF is concerned, tends to repeat itself.
Let's hope she rides it out and deletes the crap.

When is Iranian propaganda acceptable?
Answer:
When Charles Johnson uses it to paint the 15 captured British sailors as cowards, dhimmi's and weaklings of course!
According to Johnson's headline the sailors were 'partying' on Iranian TV. Anybody who bothered to watch and listen to the accompanying video can see clearly that the 15 are witnessing a live broadcast of the news of their release. After being subjected to mental torture, solitary confinement and mock executions would'nt you be pleased that you were about to be released? Anyway, if that's what Charles thinks a 'party' is, he must be really unpopular in good 'ol LA.

Eyes on France
Compare the jingoistic drivel of Charles Johnson and Co in the run-up to the French presidential elections with this piece by a professional journalist and ask yourself which is the more useful for understanding what is going on in the banlieues - or for that matter anywhere in La Grande Nation.

Comedy Genius
Well Charlie's gone and done it. The bigoted ponytailed one has made me laugh out loud. This is worthy of The Onion.
Publius Pundit notes that those hideous polyester suits Iran made the hostages wear had an odd feature—no ties: Dressed To Mock.I'm sure all Brits are reeling from the sight of their sailors without neckties. Yep, they really stuck it to the Brits by denying them a good Windsor knot.
I don’t believe anyone’s mentioned it yet, but there’s a reason for this; the necktie is unofficially banned in Iran, because it’s considered a Christian symbol. This was another sly way of sticking it to the Brits, and a message to the Iranian masses at the same time.
How dare they? What next? A ban on bowler hats?

Oh Sweet Lord
Religious nuts issuing death threats to artists? Not an issue for Charles Johnson.
Religious nuts beating up women who won't submit to their dictat? Not an issue for Charles Johnson.
Remember kids, the story only gets the LGF seal of approval if it's got Muslims in it!

Plumbing the depths
Take a look at this.
She was visiting a mosque. Big deal. Is Johnson seriously trying to suggest that no American political figure whilst on a diplomatic mission hasn't respected the feelings of the nation and culture they are visiting?Pelosi in a Hijab
PS perhaps Johnson's further shock at the fact that St John the Baptist's head is allegedly a relic at the mosque (he highlighted this fact, presumably to make a ham fisted reference to Islam and beheading) would be eased if he actually read up on history of St John.

UPDATE:
Can you imagine if a left wing site, say Daily Kos ran this article?
Laura Bush in a HijabOne would imagine a pro-Bush hack like Johnson would consider it a smear job.
The modern first lady
UPDATE: Oh diddums. Charlie is having a fit because he's been found out for the ignorant, two-faced hypocrit that he is. Perhaps when he calms down a bit he'll bother to do some research into the subject he seems to be so interested in: Syria. And maybe he'll find out more America's current involvement there than he cares to know - or post about on his little green weblog...
UPDATE: A short quiz on the matter from Radamisto

Compare and contrast
Daily Kos diarist writes an unfunny piece about Matt Drudge alleging that he was found with child prOn. Article is highlighted and deleted.
Little Green Footballs lets its commenters go wild with tasteless remarks about dead activists, murdering journalists, sick jokes about the Hajj stampede. Nothing. Zilch. Nada.
In fact the only thing that get's you deleted on LGF is criticising Chuckie or the Bush regime. Oh and making death threats and being rude, but only if they're followed up by phone call from the FBI.

Desperation
It must've been a slow news day on the Muslim hatin' front for poor old Charlie. If the best story he can come up with is this as a demonstration of Islamic extremism.
Blind woman Gry Berg, accompanied by her guide dog, was denied entry into four taxis in the center of the city of Oslo, Norway, this March. Three of the drivers claimed that their unwillingness to accept her dog was due to allergy, while the fourth one simply locked the car doors and refused to give an explanation for why he wouldn’t let Ms. Berg into his cab.Am I the only person missing the Muslim angle? Or the religious objection to seeing eye dogs? Maybe the cab drivers were just assholes?
Andreas Strand, leader of the youth organization of The Norwegian Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted, reacts strongly to this treatment. “It makes it difficult for blind people to live a social life,” he says. Strand claims that it has become an increasingly common problem that blind people accompanied by guide dogs are denied access to taxis, and has written a letter of complaint to the three companies whose drivers were involved in this particular incident.
Now, the police and the local transportation authorities will cooperate on punishing drivers who refuse to accept dogs into their cars. Director Odd Bratteberg of the Transportation Authority in Oslo warns that they will conduct random tests at taxi stands, and that drivers who refuse to accept passengers with dogs risk having their license revoked.
Maybe he should stop taking nods from Fjordman. We all know what kind of crank he is.
