Charlie and the UN

Charles Johnson's hatred of the UN tends to blind him of some basics facts about the organization, as we saw again this week when the West Coast hateblogger took a shot at the Human Rights Council (http://littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/?entry=24959). In his post 'UN Human Rights Council Kowtows to Islam' CJ fails to mention that it was European countries which opposed the 'defamation of religion' resolution while the US didn't raise any objections to the OIC's proposal.

As for his discovery this week that Human Rights Watch said last September the rights council shouldn't be so obsessed with Israel (http://littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/?entry=24962), he fails to mention that the same argument has been made by two UN secretary generals and pretty much every European country in the council. Of course mentioning that might give the lizards the impression Europe and the UN (as an institution, rather than its various forums) might be sane after all. Can't have that!!!

Chuckles points the finger

Here's the title of the latest post from everyone's favourite Californian hate-monger Charles F. Johnson.

"John Gibson Blasts Left-Wing Hate Sites"
Ummm, what's the phrase I'm looking for? Pot. Kettle. Black.

A game for every hypocrite on the net.

Update: Jonathan at Blogoland spotted a similar case of projection earlier this week.

Mask Slipping?

Normally, when someone suggests that Charles has a political slant on his weblog, in particular a conservative one, he goes apeshit.

Today, however, he lets the description of himself as one of the "mainstream Republican and conservative writers" banned by 'Content Watch' pass with nary a murmur.

Is Charles finally owning up to his pigeonhole?

Charles Johnson discovers polygamy

How many wives has Charles 'Code Monkey' Johnson got? We don't know, because he never tells us. But we do know that Charlies has discovered, via the NYT, a "serious problem" in the marital relationships of certain New Yorkers. It's polygamy, baby, the African variety. And in his oh-so-subtle style, CJ tells us this practice is going to usher in "the Dark Ages" (Africans, Dark Ages, geddit, nudge-nudge?) in the Big Apple. Ho, ho, ho.

Of course, in all the years Johnson's been blogging he has never, to our knowledge, written about polygamy as it is practised a lot closer to his California home. You see, when polygamy is practised by Africans, it's obviously a problem. When it's practised by whites, it ain't. That's LGF for you.

P.S.: For all we know CJ is in a monogamous relationship with Stinky Beaumont. But we're not asking and we're not telling...

When UN corruption is OK for LGF

Reader KH writes:

I know Charlie may be too busy making up terror plots in Denver, attacking muslims for not bowing down to jesus and showing his cycling pecs off to fine looking woman, but I'm surprised he missed this story of corruption at the UN.

When the news don't fit

Two law-related news items from 'Eurabia' you won't read about on LGF because they don't fit the approved pattern of portraying an entire continent and its politicians as capitulating to an imaginary horde of Muslim extremists.

German judge under fire for using Koran to deny divorce

French cartoons editor acquitted

UPDATE: CJ has seen fit to post about the German case BUT without mentioning the bleeding obvious: that everybody from left to right has blasted that idiot judge. Oh, and another hint for Charles 'legal eagle' Johnson. Germany doesn't have common law. That's an Anglo Saxon concept.

As we were saying

"Iraq, left to its own devices, is rapidly becoming that which they fear the most: yet another enemy of Israel, and a shari'a state that is increasingly cozy with Iran.

In other words, Free Iraq is giving the right-wing élite the finger. The purple finger."

And this only now becoming widely known in lizard-land?

We'd bet Cindy Sheehan had no idea she had so much grass-roots support among Charles' saurian horde, many of whom are now openly questioning the war and (gasp!) their Leader for ignoring a certain inconvenient truth: that Iraqi Muslims, once liberated from the iron grip of Saddamism, would go on being Iraqis and Muslims.

The military-industrial-lizard complex

A certain 'Rodney Wonnenberg' emailed us today to let us know that

"If you continue to abuse my email I will have my lawyer contact you. If this is the way you lefties handle everything no wonder all the intelligent people are right wing. Thank God for Fox news!!!"

Rodney Wonnenberg? Who he? Oh, that guy.

Curiously enough, Rodney's email has changed since our last encounter. It's now Rodney.Wonnenberg@halliburton.com. And yes, we have the SMTP hops to verify the sender...

Terrorism 101

While Charles Johnson accuses the EU of 'funding terrorists' by giving aid to the Palestinian Authority, and Iraqis who paid ransom money to get their loved ones out of the hands of murderers are refused entry into the US, a company which handed $1.7 million to a known terrorist group gets away almost scot-free and doesn't even get a blogospheric slap on the wrist from the terror-watchers-in-chief at LGF.

Ah, what a wonderful world.

Hot Air

"Dear LGFWatch," writes reader DS, "I was very impressed by the RCP's recent propaganda piece TV documentary debunking global warming theory, and was wondering whether you might have a picture to illustrate other environmental myths. For example, a picture of two allegedly extinct species (such as the dinosaur and the dodo) very much alive and sharing cocktails in a Manhattan bar..."

The Great Global Warming Swindle Swindle

Now far be it from us to point out Chuckles the Clown's hypocrisy is promoting a programme on Channel 4 (anyone who reads us regularly will know why) but just to add balance and provide actual information (which the documentary got wrong) here are some bloggers who seem on the ball.

Stoat (here and here)
Realclimate
In the Green
Reasic
Fermi Paradox (who links to a great paper by Damon & Laut)

To use a newspaper cliche 'read all about it' and don't take one programmes 'findings' as gospel. It seems that in his haste to shill for the Bush administrations destructive approach to the environment ,Charles will latch on to anything he can, even if it's a documentary on Channel 4.

UPDATE: More swindles! It seems that a scientist who appeared on the show isn't happy.

Carl Wunsch, professor of physical oceanography at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, said the film, The Great Global Warming Swindle, was ‘grossly distorted’ and ‘as close to pure propaganda as anything since World War Two’.

He says his comments in the film were taken out of context and that he would not have agreed to take part if he had known it would argue that man-made global warming was not a serious threat.
UPDATE: It appear this isn't the first time TGGWS's director, Martin Durkin, has been accused of misrepresenting people he interviewed for a program.

Why we need the MSM

The Beeb has two important stories from the Middle East on its website today.

The first is about the horror of involuntary human shields.

The second is a tragic love story.

Neither of which are going to get mentioned on LGF unless the right-wing spin machine comes up with a convicing way of distorting these stories.

Thank fuck for the Beeb.

Vignettes

Reader ST writes to say he feels lonely when Michelle Malkin isn't on Fox News screaming at him, so he's created this little clip to keep the little harpy forever on his screen. We thought we'd share it with you.

Meanwhile reader LG sends us this amusing little tale of CJ at the Steely Dan concert.

New LGF disclaimer

Girlieman points out that a new disclaimer has crept onto LGF recently, which reads:

"Comments are open and unmoderated, and do not necessarily reflect the views of Little Green Footballs. Obscene, abusive, silly, or annoying remarks may be deleted, but the fact that particular comments remain on the site in no way constitutes an endorsement of their views by Little Green Footballs."

To which Girlieman remarks:
New or not, it's bullshit. Charles deletes posts he disagrees with (and bans the poster) but allows vile hate filled posts that serve no purpose whatsoever to remain. Draw your own conclusions about what the management does nor does not endorse. Like everywhere else, actions speak louder than words.

Somebody call the irony police!

It seems Chucky Cheese is gettting his knickers in a twist over the Ann Coulter 'faggot' slur. Especially the treatment it's been given in the comments section of the HuffPo.

At Huffington Post, despite the fact that nearly every major “conservative” figure has denounced Ann Coulter’s “faggot” slur, the denizens (a “minuscule percentage,” according to Arianna) respond with an almost unbelievable barrage of ugly misogynistic hate speech
Umm, Charles, do we even have to post links to the vile misogynistic crap that comes out of your sites comment section with regard Hilary Clinton and Cindy Sheehan?

Talk about selective outrage.

Et tu, Bjørn?

Bjørn Stærk, once a fully paid-up member of the "anti-idiotarian" vanguard, has emerged from a longish hiatus to present a masterful, comprehensive analysis of the fatal disconnect between neocon rhetoric and today's ugly, messy reality.

At the risk of perpetuating a blogging cliché: it would do him a disservice to try to excerpt it. So go read the whole thing.

(via our friend Richard the Peking Duck)

Paging Dr. Freud

It's funny when lizardoids engage in armchair psychoanalysis (emphasis added; misspellings and typos in original):

I would not be surprised if some of these moonbats have criminal tendencies. And i would not be surprised if many of them have been diagnosed with mental disorders some time in their lives. It seems possible after just reading what many of them post. They fantasize about death, murder and assasantion all the time. That to me signifys very sick and twisted minds.
From the same thread:
Can we nuke the NYT? [...] They keep calling to bring the troops home, well lets...and turn them loose on the bastards like this who are undermining our country.

Close Guantanamo and ship all the inmates directly up to the NY Times Building in NYC. Then weld the doors shut once they're inside. By my calculations, that should take care of a couple of problems in no time.

my wish for all the Journalists/Editors at the Times, and any who agree with their editorial political positions is to endure the stings of a thousand Scorpions every hour, of every day for eternity ... At a minimum.

Everyone at the NYT's who had a hand in publishing top secret information regarding the NSA surveillance program, the SWIFT program, or the exact locations of our troops in Iraq should be investigated, and if found guilty, should be hung....in public!

I can't help wondering what our guys, Bush and Cheney, must think in those two seconds when they're briefed on this this morning. I bet they just shake they're heads, also with disgust, and then say something funny, like "we begin bombing in five minutes...43rd street!"[username: psychocindy]

Here's a real gem:
Whattaya you NYT liberals lookin' at? You're all a bunch of raving lunatics. You know why? 'Cause you don't have the guts to be what you wanna be. You need people like us. You need people like us so you can point your little fingers, and say "they're the bad guys." So, what's that make you? Good? You're not good; you just know how to hide. How to lie. We, we don't have that problem. We, we always tell the truth--even when we lie. So kiss your business goodnight from the bad guys. Come on; this's the last time you gonna see a single red nickel from bad guys like us, let me tell ya. Come on, try to grow your business without the bad guys. There's a bunch a bad guys money streamin' through the blogosphere; and it's all gonna get outta your way!

And, best of all:
People like that are like caged chimps hurling feces at anyone who comes near. They lives are empty. The laughter they revel in is thin and hollow. [referring to the movie Dogma]

The topic at hand is what Senior Political Analyst Charles Johnson refers to as a "Terrorist Bill of Rights," an editorial published today by the New York Times. The gist of the editorial is that the U.S., being a better nation than the totalitarian religious régimes with whom it is at war, should endeavor to be better than those totalitarian religious régimes when it comes to observing due process and the rule of law generally -- a proposition to which most lizards take exception, sometimes violently. The reasoning, apparently, is that if a torture technique was good enough for Saddam, it's good enough for the U.S. of A. And if Iran throws people into jail indefinitely without even attempting to determine their guilt or innocence -- why, we'd better do the same, otherwise we'll all DIE!

In case you're new to our site and you're wondering why we're using comments to illustrate a point about the LGF mindset: (1) The comments are an integral part of LGF, and indeed make up the overwhelming majority of its "content"; and (2) Charles routinely deletes comments he doesn't agree with. So as far as we're concerned, the commenters are fair game. Oops! Was that a violent, "stalkerish" hunting metaphor?

News you won't read on LGF

- Poll says Muslims less likely to support terrorism than Americans are.

- Religious fanatic commits 'honor killing' in Germany

- U.S. military criticizes Jack Bauer's torture tactics

The F word

Here's a helpful tip for anyone who runs a blog and hopes to earn money as an Amazon affiliate: Watch your language.

For example, including the word "fascists" in a blog post can have unintended results:

This is a screenshot from LGF, and what you see there on the right is an ad for a book called American Fascists: The Christian Right and the War on America.

Which is probably not the sort of book Charles Johnson would choose to recommend to his readers if he were inclined to exert any sort of control over his Amazon ads, which -- despite his constant and obsessive monitoring of his blog and discussions thereof all over the interweb -- he apparently isn't.

A side note: Whatever happened to Pajamas Media's ad network, anyway? $7 million spent, and they're now reduced to using Google and Amazon ads like everyone else.

Salve!

The recent LGF vs. Digg kerfuffle and the faux outrage of the wingnuts over some bloggers' comments about Dick Cheney has driven a whole load of new visitors to this site.

Welcome, especially those who got here via Realm of the Sphinx, HuffPo, Salon and Blog Herald.

Stalking Charles Johnson

When Charles Johnson refers to this blog, as he has done repeatedly over the last few days, he invariably describes us as "stalkers".

The fact is that if we were really interested in stalking Mr Johnson, we would be ringing his private phone number in the middle of the night and breathing heavily at him; we would be publishing pictures of the inside of his home; we would follow him in a dark saloon as he cycles along the California coast; and we'd write extensively about his friends and family and his life before he became a celebrity blogger.

But we don't.

This blog isn't about Charles Johnson the man. It's about the evil ideology which he embodies: an ideology that regards Muslims, Arabs, and people with a different point of view as subhuman. It is an ideology which has its counterpart in some of the crazier manifestations of 'liberal' America, but which only seems to reach its full apogee in the rantings of the wingnut-o-sphere, where Charles Johnson is a vanguard member.

This blog is about documenting and exposing the hypocrisy and racism that is the daily fare on Little Green Footballs. Is it any wonder, therefore, that Johnson is trying to shut us down by calling us 'stalkers' and urging his minions to bombard Blogger with complaints?

Good luck to him, but he won't succeed. We're in this for the long haul, and if Charles Johnson finds that troubling, so much the better.

Weekend humor

Michelle Malkin to be honored for her contribution to 'accuracy in the media' (hat tip a reader)

And how long before Charles Johnson gets fed up with editors 'defacing' his Wikipedia entry and moves with great harumph to this loony bin?

Gaza Greenhouses II

Girlieman has an update on the Gaza greenhouses story. His post contains some very important reminders about the pattern of reporting that makes LGF stand out as a racist website.

Gaza Greenhouses

PG points us to an interesting blog post, which suggests the pictures of Israeli greenhouses in Gaza that Charles likes to show on LGF may not be all he claims.

Girlieman: LGF Publishes Fake Before and After Photos

Feel free to email us with more information on this.

The eloquence of Lizards

Charles is always quick to whine about 'lefties' who write "unbelievably vile comments" about conservative figures on blogs, or in emails. And he's always quick to point the finger of blame at the blog owner.

So we trust CJ will be taking full responsibility for this fine piece of prose which fluttered into our inbox today from 'Rodney' [rwonnenberg@ultralinecorp.com]:

Do you really believe the shit that falls out of your mouth or do you just like the taste. I hate to say it but you are one (or are a bunch of) dumb shit(s).

Or is Charles going to try and deflect the blame?

Charles' next project

Now that we have conclusive proof of our long-held suspicion that Charles Johnson reads this site regularly -- and is indeed positively obsessed with it -- here's a nice little diversion for him and his groupies. Will their pathological need to control the debate at all costs (i.e. by not succumbing to brazen taunts from "dangerous" amateur websites that attract approximately 0.1% as much traffic as he does) outweigh their equally pathological fear of having their Leader criticized?

We think not.

Dance, lizards, dance!
