Words cannot describe the fanaticism that encourages people that would encite murder over a cartoon (above), and also groups that would picket a funeral of a civil rights activist in God's name (below). Extremist bigots come in many colors, creeds and religious groups. It would serve everyone if we remembered that.

True, those placard wielding loonies were disgusting, especially to the many Muslims in the UK as well:
On Saturday, Asghar Bukhari, chairman of the Muslim Public Affairs Committee, said the demonstration in London on Friday should have been stopped by police because the group had been advocating violence.

He said the protesters "did not represent British Muslims".

Mr Bukhari told the BBC News website: "The placards and chants were disgraceful and disgusting, Muslims do not feel that way.

"I condemn them without reservation, these people are less representative of Muslims than the BNP are of the British people.",,1702769,00.html
Inayat Bunglawala, spokeswoman for the Muslim Council of Britain, said: 'The Metropolitan police should now consider all the evidence they have gathered from the protests to see if they can prosecute the extremists. It is time the police acted, but in a way so as not to make them martyrs of the prophet's cause, which is what they want, but as criminals. Ordinary Muslims are fed up with them.

[Some of the demonstrations in London were organized by the banned (in Europe) radical organization, Hizb Tahrir.]
