Charles Johnson's one-sided reporting

Charles Johnson posted an (uncredited) AFP report Friday about Hamas militants accidentally blowing themselves and others up as they prepared explosives. Good. The grotesque Hamas practice of having bombs factories in civilian areas deserves all the publicity it can get.

But it's blatantly obvious that CJ is only interested in using this tragedy for his own political ends when you consider what he hasn't written about recently. Imagine if it were Palestinians who had poured acid on a teenage girl or attacked West Bank farmers.

And the sad part is, we'll probably get accused of antisemitism for this post..

Story one: It is horrible that a female had acid poure don her face, but no one knows exactly who did it and for why. (there are only suspects) The Israeli police will investigate the crime and prosecute the person responsible.

Can the same be said of the human butchers who send rockets to kill little babies in Sderot? Hardly. The acid situation involves fringe nuts - who will be prosecuted by Israel, with a female who is treated by the Israeli medical establishment. In contrast, 'Palestinian' human butchers are praised as heroes by their society.

Your 'comparison' fails in scenario one.

Story two: It was in fact an Israeli group that gave the 'Palestinians' the video camera to begin with. Can the same be said of the 'Palestinians,' policing their human butchery towards Israelis? Hardly. But I will go a bit further and said that you have no clue what actually went on. Al Dura is a perfect example of Pallywood propoganda, which goes on routinely.

So your points are?

Oh right, you have none. (as per usual)

You make me a little more racist every day. Good job.

So LGF Watch has resorted to censorship now?

That's nice.

"So your points are?"

Towards the end of this article, your arguments get dismantled one-by-one.

Read it and howl.

Care to explain your comment, Tulips?

Sphinx,

WOW, some far leftist doesn't like Israel! News at 11! That shocks me!

Actually, I view that as again proving my point.

Israel allows dissent. This shows it is a vibrant society. Some far leftist soldier can spread blood libels about his fellow soldiers and not only live, but broadcast his message around the world. I know, I have encountered an angry and vengeful ex-soldier, who runs "Combatants for Peace." ("Peace" being the destruction of Israel) He spoke known lies to a crowd in my home city, and so I am fully aware of far leftist Jews who speak anti-Israeli blood libels. Noam Chomsky and Norm Finkelstein are Jewish, need I say more?

In the 'Palestinian' territories, if you walk around Ramallah waving an Israeli flag, you will be lynched, and your body torn limb from limb, as people bathe in your blood.

Is this a comparison you really want to make?

Oh right, it isn't.

Your point is...?

X,

My point is that these articles posted by 'Sphinx' are shown as 'proof' that Israels are somehow 'just as bad or worse' than the 'Palestinians.' (and that somehow Charles is a 'propogandist' for showing a one-sided story)

Au contrare. These stories prove the opposite. They prove that Israel has a free press and reports all stories, even negative ones, and allow people to walk around freely, limbs intact. Moreover, fringe stories were posted as somehow representative of the mainstream culture of Israelis. The little girl with acid thrown on her face will get some of the best medical care in the world. Whoever committed the crime will be prosecuted. If she was in the 'Palestinian' territories, she would have been beaten or even honor killed for the 'crime' of uncovering her face, and the perpetrators would have been praised.

As far as Hebron goes, I know what goes on there. This is land that was taken from Jews in the vicious Hebron massacre of 1929, where at least 67 Jewish civilians - including women and children, were brutally murdered, for the 'crime' of existing. It is the second holiest city for Jews. Yet somehow, the mere Jewish presence in the city is considered a 'crime,' despite the fact that the land was lawfully purchased! (and was in fact never part of a 'Palestinian' state to begin with, but rather was occupied by Jordan prior to Israel winning it in the Six Day War of attempted annhilation against Israel)

Now there is a hostile population alongside the Jewish population, and the two instigate each other regularly. I know the Jews in Hebron are not all peaches, but then again, neither are the 'Palestinians,' and the situation got especially bad when an infant child was killed by a sniper bullet. (as in, some human butcher aimed their gun to purposefully kill a baby)

How would you react if you lived next door to a population like that? Would you not occasionally step over the line? (which I admit the Israelis in Hebron occasionally do) And yet when the Jews in Hebron step over the line, they face the IDF, which goes after them!

Back to my original point. I am not saying that all Jewish Hebron residents are angels, but after repeated Pallywood productions have proved to be fakeries, I see no reason to believe yet another one unless more research is done. You have no idea what the unedited version contains.

MOREOVER, does LGF Watch post pictures of 'Palestinians' lynching Jews? Why not? Doesn't that show the 'bias' of LGF Watch? If this is your 'logic,' you have the live by the logic you create.

The comment about censorship, Tulips, the one about censorship.

Anyhow, you seem to have missed the fact that while we report the bad and the good at LGF (admittedly the latter is rather rare), Charles Johnson can't muster the courage to report accurately what's going on in his field of focus: Israel, Terrorism, Defense of Enlightenment Values.

Steve said...

"Carles can't report accurately".... but LGF watch can!

The Sphinx said...

Wow, so stating personal experience and facts about what fellow soldiers have been doing is blood-libel. And Semites can be Antisemitic. Oh, and Islamic supremacism is Islamophobia <-- Red Tulips Logic

While you probably didn't even muster up the courage to read through the article, you didn't even attempt at whitewashing the crimes that it spoke of. Which is good, because you can't.

All throughout your latest excuse of a post you've been portraying the Palestinian population as bloodthirsty subhuman savages that deserve every piece of injustice they're getting. Well guess what flower-face, I know several Palestinians and people who have actually been to Gaza, and who have seen how people there are living and how they think. You'd be happy if the people there were half as bad as you think they are, because it might support your flimsy arguments against them, but in fact.. No, they're not. And such people do NOT deserve this miserable kind of life.

My point is, for every rogue Palestinian, you can find a rogue Israeli, be it settler, soldier, or whatever. The article I sent you shows examples of both. So stop acting like Israelis are angelic, despite a few slight no-nos, and Palestinians are vampires. Either that, or you stop lying about yourself being pro-Palestinian. It starts off with you using quotation marks around the word Palestinian, you know..

stvip said...

"My point is, for every rogue Palestinian, you can find a rogue Israeli"

No, you can't.

You can find a great many violent religious extremist in Israel, but this quantitative comparison doesn't even begin to hold. And while you can easily match some people from both sides vileness for vileness, neither can you begin to compare Israeli and "Palestinian" societies qualitatively.

And Sphinx (for now I've moved to resuming calling you "Sphinx" and Charles "Chuckleberry") - yes, you are an anti-Israeli and antisemite. I don't believe for a moment you really care about the welfare of the Palestinians, rather than trying to bring misery upon Israel and Jews. If it were the Palestinians you cared about, you would be railing day and night about how, say, Kuwait treated them. Compare and contrast with the Israeli situation. But you probably weren't even aware of that before I mentioned it (this isn't the first time I bring up the subject). Then see how these "Palestinians" treat themselves, and how they fare in other Arab countries. But sure, it's them you're concerned about, not your hatred of Israel and Jews.

Red Tulips said...

Sphinx,

It is blood libel if the assertion is somehow that this is what defines the IDF or Israel. That absolutely is a blood libel.

Your inane/ludicrous/intellectually dishonest/pathetic point about how "semites cannot be antisemites" is of the lowest order. There were kapos during the Holocaust; this is a reality. Someone can be Jewish and hate fellow Jews, just as someone can be a Muslim and hate fellow Muslims, Egyptian and hate fellow Egyptians, etc etc etc. Your point lacks any substance at all, and shows a total and complete dearth of intellectual honesty on your part.

As an aside, Islamic supremacism, as a matter of fact, is what causes Islamophobia. This was well said by Kathy Shaindle. source

Young Sphinx, I did read the pathetic article, an anecdotal story by one 'peacenick' (most of whom believe 'peace' = the destruction of Israel). It does not change the volumes of evidence of 'Palestinian' Pallywood productions. Al Dura is only the most recent and flagrant example of such lies. (source) So why should I believe any video in particular coming out of Pallywood again?

All the video linked on this site proves is that Israel believes in freedom of speech, and is not a totalitarian state which glorifies human butchery. (which 'Palestine' is) So in fact, the linking of the story proves how great Israel is!

All throughout your latest excuse of a post you've been portraying the Palestinian population as bloodthirsty subhuman savages that deserve every piece of injustice they're getting.

The 'Palestinians' are part of a society that glorifies human butchery. Thus, it is a natural consequence that Israelis will have to defend themselves from such human butchery. A perfect example of the human butchery occurred when IDF soldiers made a wrong turn, and drove into Ramallah by accident. They were lynched, their bodies torn limb from limb, as the 'Palestinians' danced around, bathing in their blood. (source)

This literally did happen. The 'Palestinians' tried to cover it up, but it occurred.

Another perfect example of human butchery was when a sniper purposely shot and murdered a little ten month old baby. Again, this is not accidental. It was not an example of 'Palestinians' shooting a baby by accident while defending themselves from IDF bullets. It was the purposeful murder of a little 10 month old, for the 'crime' of existing. (source)

Stories such as these are numerous, and they are evidence that the 'Palestinian' mainstream society in fact glorifies human butchery. Does every 'Palestinian' glorify human butchery? Of course not, and I never said that. But the mainstream society - wherein textbooks contain references to Jews as apes and pigs; wherein Al Aqsa TV regularly showcases little children glorifying their desire to be Shahids (suicide bombers); and wherein Jews in general are showcased as subhuman...is supportive of barbarism.

And such people do NOT deserve this miserable kind of life.

The 'Palestinians' have a miserable life because their mainstream society glorifies human butchery. This means that Israelis have to defend themselves. It is an example of why to be pro-'Palestinian,' you should be against the mainstream culture of the 'Palestinians,' as this is what is causing their deprivations.

My point is, for every rogue Palestinian, you can find a rogue Israeli, be it settler, soldier, or whatever. The article I sent you shows examples of both.

Not true. There are fringe freaks in Israel, but they are prosecuted. The IDF and Israeli police in fact goes after those Jews in Hebron who throw rocks at 'Palestinians.' The same cannot be said for the 'Palestinians.' The 'Palestinian' human butchers are glorified by the mainstream society as heroes. You have this simply wrong.

Either that, or you stop lying about yourself being pro-Palestinian. It starts off with you using quotation marks around the word Palestinian, you know..

I use quotation marks as the 'Palestinian' ethnicity is a modern invention, and I do not like to fall prey to the falsehood that a 'Palestinian' ethnicity is somehow so unique and seperate from, say, the Jordanian ethnicity. The 'Palestinian' ethnicity exists simply to deny the Israeli one. So I place the word in quotation marks, where I believe it deserves.

Now this all said, 'Palestinians,' fake ethnicity or not, are still human beings. And I would like them to have a decent life. And it is why I am against the mainstream society glorifying human butchery. It guarantees they will not be able to live a decent life.

X,

P.S.: I posted the comment about censorship because I thought you were not posting the comment I wrote at 6/16/2008 09:37:00 AM. It is obviously inapplicable now.

Anyway, back to the other point. LGF does not pretend to be the BBC or Associated Press. They do not pretend to be a news source regarding all news about all things; they are primarily a news commentary site. If you make an absurd claim that LGF should post every story about everything, then surely LGF Watch should do the same. Do you? Oh right, you don't. So you are hypocrites lacking any discernible argument.

Stvip, if you think I approve of holding Palestinians as hostages in other Arab countries, then you couldn't be more wrong. This doesn't conflict with opposing the strangulation of an entire population and depriving them of the most basic of rights as well.

Got to stay consistent, no?

stvip said...

"Got to stay consistent, no?"

I wish you would.

"f you think I approve of holding Palestinians as hostages in other Arab countries, then you couldn't be more wrong. This doesn't conflict with opposing the strangulation of an entire population and depriving them of the most basic of rights as well."

As I said, compare and contrast.
The Palestinians in Kuwait were a major part of the functional society. Some volunteered to defend Kuwait from Iraq. Through no fault of their own, due to Arafat's Loki-like talent for fomenting violence, hatred and stagnation everywhere he's involved, they were banished - transferred - completely, 300,000-400,000 people from the country.

In Israel, the Palestinians' (mentally attach quote marks around that term) goal is to annihilate Israel. They refuse co-existence. They target civilians almost exclusively in their "resistance". They have refused every reasonable offer for peace and co-existence (or, if not refusing, agreeing, then ignoring the term completely). They are not a functional society, they subsist solely on donations (despite the fact that their quality of life skyrocketed due to Israeli investments in Disputed Territories infrastructure, prior to them waging all-out war on us). If they were to abandon their desire to annihilate us, invest in their infrastructure and society, they would bloom. Money would (and did, at the beginning of the Oslo Accords, before they blew it all away) flow in from foreign investments. But they won't have it.

Now, what is Israel's response to this? Banish the entire population? No - sit quietly as their towns are constantly shelled, occasionally taking, with extreme care to pin-point casualties, action against active terrorists. Also economic "sanctions" (they're not really sanctions, because Israel doesn't owe Gaza anything - why should we be forced to trade with them in the first place?), to try to stem the flow of Iranian and Saudi money that always, inevitably, goes to the purchase of weapons rather than development.

Now, compare the world response to Kuwait's actions: silence.
If Israel dares defend itself: condemnations from all corners.

So I ask again, knowing the obvious answer: what are Israel's critics (and you) really concerned about? The welfare of the "Palesitnians", or hating Israel and Jews?

And how easily were you manipulated, my dear Sphinx, to focus your hateful attention on Israel, instead of the ills of the Muslim world.

Can't we just irradiate the land after moving everyone out and putting them all in "time-out"? It's like parenting. If they can't stop fighting over it, take the damned place away and make it uninhabitable. Better than everyone trying to bring about the end of the world.

I guess that rather reflects my view that I see it as a big giant mess, period. No one blameless, no one to blame. But also no one willing to admit when they're wrong. I will defer a bit though and state that the obsession with detonating is simply absurd from a Western POV and will likely never be seen any differently except by radicals here. The Palestinians lose another ounce of what respect they could have every time another one "suicide bombs".
