Documents leaked to ITN News are confirming some of the details of the Jean Charles de Menezes killing. The report on the TV made these points.
1. The surveillance operation was botched. The block of flats were not adequately covered and the officer who was tasked with identifiying suspects was 'relieving' himself when Jean Charles left the building.
2. Through the course of the surveillance Police failed to identify Jean Charles clearly.
3. Jean Charles was not carrying any bags.
4. Jean Charles was not wearing a bulky jacket.
5. Jean Charles did not run through the tube station (he walked 'at a normal walking pace', even stopping to pick up a newspaper) and descended slowly on an escalator.
6. Jean Charles did not jump the barriers.
7. Jean Charles only ran when he saw the tube train on the platform (only a couple of metres).
8. Jean Charles was behaving normally.
9. Positive identification was allegedly made just before the shooting (how could you make a positive ID if the Police couldn't even decide what colour the suspect was? Earlier surveillance described him as 'African').
10. There is still no conformation wether any warning was given. High ranking officers are contradicting each other on what actually happened.
