Charles Johnson and the cruel hoax

Reader TN writes:

Charles was, justifiably, outraged at the torture and murder of Iraqi journalist Atwar Bahjat (http://littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/?entry=20429). But as is typical for him, he doesn't seem to have actually read the story.

Bahjat worked for the Al-Arabiya satellite network - and before that, for its rival, Al-Jazeera, the network Charles loves to bash. But then, "Former Al-Jazeera correspondent killed by terrorists" wouldn't play that well, would it?

The London Times story he links to (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2089-2168496,00.html) points out that although Bahjat's killers may have been Sunni Al Qaeda-ites, it is also possible they were Shi'ite militiamen from the Badr Brigade, which is linked to the SCIRI party, part of the US-backed Iraqi government. Typically, Charles doesn't have the patience to sort out the rival factions in Iraq - to him they're all evil Muslims.

Quite so. As we pointed out recently, CJ has a strange relationship with professional media outlets: he hates their guts, but he shamelessly laps up their every word if it suits his agenda. And he'll only shed a tear for those reporters killed by jihadis, not those killed by coalition forces in Iraq.

Charles 'Janus' Johnson - has a certain ring to it, doesn't it?
