More LGF Hysteria

Charles Johnson decided to post another "Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid" item, this time from Tucson, AZ. The problem is, there's no problem at all. The report about Iraqis possibly sneaking into this country to attack a military base in Sierra Vista is 6 months old AND the FBI issued the following disclaimer:

"There is no information to state this is a credible threat. We remind people to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to their local authorities."

Hey come on, what else do you expect from a tabloid-esque blog?

On a more serious note, why the hell would this report be issued in the first place if no information exists to support it?

"Oh my God, my house is on the same planet as terrorists, who knows when they'll be coming to get me!!" *tremble*

People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw rocks.

You would think Charles would grasp this simple concept...but sadly, no. Instead he continues calling others hate-mongers while mongering hate non-stop himself.

But but but, don't you see?! The fact that no credible evidence of any nefarious plot exists, PROVES how sneaky and duplicitous teh Islamonazis really are!!!!1

up to now, there was no single real threat from iraqis, but still iraqis under constant suspicion , thanks to all this exaggerated reporting. and they tell you the media, well blogs also create stir and scares. at least media will refrain after receiving many complaints, opposite to blogs.

it was unfortunate from charles to post such article.

Charles isn't really interested in promoting healthier relations with Iraqi Muslims, or with any Muslims for that matter.

Is it irresponsible to speculate?--it would be irresponsible not to.

There's a rather broad line between speculation and fearmongering.

Can you imagine the uproar at LGF if Charles suddenly started posting things like, "how can we best solve the problem of terrorism without alienating every single Muslim on the face of the planet?"

Just imagining Babbazee's reaction makes me smile.

a BETTER question would be how can the MUSLIMS solve the problem of terrorism within their ranks. I dont see how WE (if you mean the west or non-muslims) can solve it, at best we can decide how we want to respond to it.

No, the West can decide what to do about the terrorists (Tim McVeighs and Michigan militias, not to mention militarists and those who bomb villages to get one person) and religious supremacists within their own ranks - and stop pretending that they are the upholders of a liberal tradition going back to the Greeks when they can't even uphold human rights in Gitmo, Afghanistan, and Iraq, where they are more powerful - never mind their behaviors in countries where they aren't.

Wasn't Cheney a long-time supporter of the South African regime? Has Bush jr. ever spoken out against Israeli oppression of Palestinians through settlements and torture? What about Pakistan, has any member of the White House taken a clear stance against oppression and dictatorship, as Bush promised in his 2004 speech - 'We will stand up for anyone who supports democracy...'

This kind of 'appeasement of our own' belies any message to the muslim world of supporting democracy and human rights - and gives effective support to tyrannical regimes around the world. When the West compares itself to Syria and Saudi, and says 'We're not as bad as they are' it only helps those regimes, by setting the ethical bar so low as to make dictatorships the moral bar beyond which one is 'moral' - a disgusting propaganda practice...
